Imprint of Mesoscale Eddies on Air-Sea Interaction in the Tropical Atlantic Ocean

چکیده

This study investigates the effect of mesoscale eddies on air–sea heat and fresh water exchange in tropical Atlantic Ocean (TAO) using 8 years satellite altimetry data, combined with sea surface temperature (SST), latent sensible fluxes (LHF SHF), infrared (IRF) precipitation (PR) data. Results indicate that approximately ∼40% cyclonic contribute to warm SST anomalies, anticyclonic cold anomalies. Eddies were found play a role variability LHF, SHF IRF, contributing 10–35% their total variability, largest contributions observed beneath intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ) frontal areas. Composite analysis flux anomalies over suggested created through horizontal advection processes may not significantly impact overall IRF eddies, contrary vertical processes. Despite lack clear correlation between PR TAO, significant correlations ITCZ, suggesting both ITCZ region. provides an original contribution understanding ocean atmosphere TAO.

Parameterizing the Effects of Upper-Ocean Large Eddies on Air-Sea Interaction

Our approach is to combine process-oriented modeling studies with simulations and interpretations of upper-ocean data obtained from the CBLAST field programs. In process studies, we identify a set of controlling nondimensional parameters and explore the model results in the parameter space. By doing this, we hope to see the dynamic processes in perspective and develop robust parameterization sc...

the effect of taftan pozzolan on the compressive strength of concrete in the environmental conditions of oman sea (chabahar port)

cement is an essential ingredient in the concrete buildings. for production of cement considerable amount of fossil fuel and electrical energy is consumed. on the other hand for generating one tone of portland cement, nearly one ton of carbon dioxide is released. it shows that 7 percent of the total released carbon dioxide in the world relates to the cement industry. considering ecological issu...

Mesoscale eddies transport deep-sea sediments

Mesoscale eddies, which contribute to long-distance water mass transport and biogeochemical budget in the upper ocean, have recently been taken into assessment of the deep-sea hydrodynamic variability. However, how such eddies influence sediment movement in the deepwater environment has not been explored. Here for the first time we observed deep-sea sediment transport processes driven by mesosc...

Universal structure of mesoscale eddies in the ocean

[1] Mesoscale eddies dominate oceanic kinetic energy at sub-inertial frequencies. Their three-dimensional structure has, however, remained obscure, hindering better understanding of eddy dynamics. Here by applying the composite analysis of satellite altimetry and Argo float data to the globe, we show that despite remarkable regional differences in amplitude, extent and polarity, etc., mesoscale...

Deep mesoscale eddies in the Canada Basin, Arctic Ocean

[1] Numerous eddies have been identified in a seven year time series of mooring observations in the Canada Basin, Arctic Ocean. We focus on a series of deep eddies centered at 1200 m depth, and occupying up to 1500 m of the water column. The deep eddies are found to be spatially localized, only ever being observed at one of four mooring sites of the Beaufort Gyre Observing System in the Canada ...
